Clients can save significant amounts in postage if Ritter’s delivers your mail to the post office’s distribution points, after first bringing it to the main post office. This process saves the post office internal distribution costs and that savings is passed on to you.
There are several factors: weight, quantity, distance, and per piece savings, which help determine whether or not to drop ship. These factors are calculated to maximize savings to the customer.
For example: A mailing of 10,000 bulk mail pieces sent to Tampa from Ft. Lauderdale might cost $2,370 in postage. ($.237/pc). However, if the mail is shipped directly to the distribution facility in Tampa, it would save $430 in postage. Subtract the $150 cost to ship the job to Tampa and there is a net savings of $280.
Drop shipments are always done on a case by case basis. The postage savings are measured against the shipping cost. The savings on larger jobs can be significant; the chance to save money on what is the most expensive part of a direct mail campaign should not be ignored.
